The Hidden Hearts

It is a winter evening, the sky is looking pink in color, wind is moving fast through the park of the Helmhold University. Due to the fast blowing wind numerous tiny pink flowers are flying from the beautiful trees and are carried away by the wind all over the park. The path through the University Park and the benches are filled with these pink flowers. In short the climate is so romantic. In this chilled atmosphere, Harry is sitting alone on a bench under a tree. He has a paper in his hand with beautiful handwritten words and also a red rose between the folds of that paper.
As the time passed, the climate became colder. He kept his bag aside on the bench and he took a glance at his watch.
The clock struck 6:00 in the statistics room of the same university. There are around 40 students in that class. The class is going on serious. The entire class is silent and concentrated on the topic being taught by the professor. Among those students Mary is one of the concentrated listeners. She is totally involved in her lesson. She is noting down all the words slipping from the mouth of the professor. Suddenly she finds her mobile vibrating; she cuts that incoming call and returns a message:
“I am busy, I’ll call you later”
Now her thoughts slowly changed and she lost her concentration on the class. She finally locks her mobile screen and returns her mobile back into her bag.
Lucy took out her mobile from her bag, standing outside the boundary wall of the university wall. She kept her mobile in silent mode and returns it back into her bag. She climbs and jumps down the wall into the campus. She moved silently and quickly through the campus garden kicking the heaps of freshly fallen dry leaves. She finally entered into her class silently without the knowledge of the professor in the class and took a deep breath sitting in her place.
Taking a deep breath, Harry took his mobile and typed a message:
“Today I am going to propose Lucy” and sent this message to Mary.
There somewhere deep inside their heart, they are hiding something. All 3 are now thinking something in their mind, though they are at different situations, different places. Their thoughts running faster than the seconds needle of their watches. Let’s see what’s there in these three

                    Hidden Hearts

Now we came to know the relation between these three characters, in short Harry loves Lucy and Mary is the best friend of Harry.
Lucy’s class ended as she entered the class just a couple of minutes before the class going to end. She made her path towards the park, walking alone thinking something. On the other hand Harry is waiting for Lucy in the park to propose her.
Lucy saw Harry sitting on the bench and surfing his mobile. When Lucy neared Harry, he got a call and he attends it and misses the sight of Lucy accidentally. So Harry’s proposal was missed without his knowledge.
After an hour, Mary came to Harry and sat beside him on the bench. The sky became almost dark and the wind increased its speed. He is still waiting for Lucy on that bench.
Marry: Harry, looks like Lucy left for home, let’s leave now, it became too cold.
Harry: No Mary, she may come, let’s wait for one more minute.
They both sat on that bench for another half an hour. Mary lost her temper and decided to drag Harry out of the park. But when she saw Harry, she saw some anxiety in his eyes and he is eager to say something to someone. She finds a confidence in his eyes that Lucy might come. He lost his senses, as it is already 7:30 and the rooms were closed already. She decided to leave him alone and wanted to realize himself as she don’t wanted to erase that anxiety in him. Thinking so, Mary left from the park.
There is no moon in the sky, the stars are clear in the sky, the park is dimly lit, and the wind became more chilled, flowers lying all over the ground. There were no one in the park, it is silent all around. Harry is still sitting on the bench for Lucy.
He has been hiding his love on Lucy since 3 years; he feared to propose her and wasted all these years. Today, he got some confidence to propose her. Though the climate supported him, time didn’t support him.
Now finally he lost his hopes on Lucy that she will come, his anxiety turned into disappointment. A tear drop is yet to flow from his eye, but it is frozen in his eyes. He wiped his eyes, suppressed his sob and took his bag up and left the park sadly.
The letter along with the rose was left alone on the bench by Harry in that park. Suddenly a strong gust of wind flowed on the bench to which the love letter flew away along with the rose into the dark that cold and dark evening.
The next day, it is a fine morning, Looks like the sun woke up early today, may be to keep the city warm on this cool winter morning.
Lucy woke up and clicked on the message she got, it read:
“Shall we meet today evening in the park?”
Her face started to enlighten and she quickly replied to the message:
“Ok, let’s meet”.
Lucy is so anxious and happy that entire day in class and outside. She imagined her meeting with him in the park in different ways without listening to the classes.
Finally evening arrived and she took a glance at the big clock in the room, it struck 6:00, she walked into the park and sat on the bench where Harry sat yesterday.
Suddenly, her face caught lighting when she saw him coming into the park, he is non another than Ham, the richest student of the college. He came and sat beside Lucy. They started to talk discussing their escape to movie yesterday and enjoying without attending the classes.
Lucy loves ham, but she is hiding this inside her heart, but Ham has many girl friends in the college. Of course he is being loved only because of his wealth. But in real Ham loves Della, the most beautiful girl in the entire college.
As they are talking, Mary saw them and shocked to see Ham with Lucy. They are talking to each other sitting very close, but she knows that Ham loves Della, and now she came to know that Lucy loves Ham. On the other side Mary saw Harry coming into the park disappointed. Mary doesn’t want to hurt Harry’s wound again and again. So, she went to harry and diverted him from entering the park.
But this couple sat on the bench and enjoyed that evening, though they are hiding their loved ones in their heart. Now, Mary is the only one who knew all the “Hidden Hearts”.
The next day every student of all branches is busy in reading books because a slip test is going to be conducted by the University management to know the knowledge of each student. Finally the examination started and after an hour the status of our characters in the exam hall are, Mary is busy in solving the toughest questions in the test, Ham is busy in flirting the girl beside him, Lucy is busy in day dreaming about her future with Ham and Harry is busy in solving the simplest questions in order to pass the test.
Suddenly while Harry is busy in solving them, a small paper ball fell on the table hitting his head. He opened the paper ball and read the matter written in it:
“Wait for me in the park today evening”.
When Harry turned back he found no one looking at him, and he is in dilemma about who threw the paper ball on him. Finally after writing the slip test he went to the park in the evening and waited for the person to come at the bench.
Suddenly, all the boys in the park are gazing towards the person who is coming to the park; there came Della, the most beautiful girl in the University. She came and sat beside Harry on the bench.
Della: Sorry, I’ve threw the paper ball on you.
Harry: its ok, what’s the matter?
Della: Harry, please stop loving Lucy, she is bad in behavior and she loves people based on the status. She doesn’t know that feelings are worthier than wealth.
Harry: thanks for your suggestion Della, but the fault is not in her, in fact the fault is in me. Though I know that I am unfit for these types of things, I’ve indulged and though I know that I am not lovable, I still love her. Its all my fault.
Della smiles to the reply given by Harry and says:
Della: who said that no one loves you Harry?
Harry became confused to her words
Harry: what?
Della: there is a girl who loves you with all her heart.
Harry: who is she?
Della smiles and their conversation lasted for a couple of minutes and Della left the park and Harry went to the parking place and rode his bike outside the University.
While he is riding his bike, he recapped Della’s words and then remembers the day what happened when Harry set to propose Lucy.
“Harry left the place disappointed that late evening realizing that Lucy won’t come to the park. He left the love letter along with the rose on the bench and left. A strong gust of wind blew over the bench and to which the love letter along with the rose flew in air and fell on the feet of a girl standing behind the tree. She took the paper from her foot and read it holding the rose with the other hand. A tear drop fell on the love letter while she was reading the letter. She too left the park behind Harry that dark moonless cold night.
While Harry remembered this and his eyes became moist while riding the bike. He parked his bike in front of a building and went into the building and opened a room door without knocking the door. There inside the room he found Mary crying bitterly sitting on a chair with the love letter of Harry in her hands and the rose he left is still fresh in a vase filled with water on that table.
Della said that Mary knows all the hidden hearts but she is not revealing that she also has a hidden heart who is non another than Harry. She even decided to sacrifice herself bringing Lucy into Harry’s life in order to make him happy. She is the one who spent crying nights on the days when Harry looked disappointed. She is the one who waited behind the tree for Harry till the late evening that day though she know that Harry is waiting for an another girl (Lucy).
Mary seeing Harry entering her room, she tried to hide the love letter and the rose and also tried to divert harry, but Harry came to know the truth.
Harry: Sorry Mary.
Mary: (wiping her tears): why sorry Harry, what happened?
Harry: I am a fool who didn’t understand a girl’s heart. I used to believe that love is a beautiful feeling between two beautiful persons, and I loved Lucy only seeing her beauty, I didn’t ever thought about her character. Now, I realized that love is between two hearts and sharing s be it happiness or sadness, it consists of caring, and I found these all characters in you but I acted foolish. All these years I spent life searching for good keeping the best in my pocket.
Mary after hearing this she started to cry bitterly. Harry wiped her tears and stood at the door of the room. Mary is leaning on the table crying with her head leaning down, closing her eyes, and Harry standing at the door. There is silence all over the room; only the fast moving wind sounds from outside can be heard.
The sky became pink in color and the wind speed is increasing. Suddenly a strong gust of wind blew from outside opening the window forcedly and passed over the rose flower in the vase. The rose flower flew in air and fell in front of Harry.
Harry looked outside; the climate is like the day when he set to propose Lucy.
Harry: will you give me a last chance Mary?
Mary: for what Harry? (Still leaning her head down)
There is no reply from Harry,
She opened her eyes and turned to Harry, she found Harry kneeling down on the floor in a proposing posture holding the rose and says
“I love you Mary”
Mary looked shocked
Harry: that day when I set to propose Lucy, the climate supported but the time did not supported me, now I again the climate is supporting and I don’t wanted to give chance for time to collapse my feelings on you, and here I am proposing with the same rose with same love, I love you Mary forever and ever”
Mary got up from the chair and ran towards Harry and hugged him tight weeping. Both Harry and Mary are crying with happy tears hugging each other.
In this story Harry hid Lucy in his heart, Lucy hid Ham in her heart, Ham hid Della in his heart and at last Mary too hid Harry in her heart.
So, hiding a person in your heart will never bring you close, expose your feeling on him and convey out them so that even though someone is there in his/her heart may be replaced with you as like Mary replaced Lucy in Harry’s heart.
Now the love letter of Harry flew away from the table and flew outside the window and flied over the streets of the city and flied high into the sky and disappeared into the romantic pink sky where the story has started.
This is the story of” THE HIDDEN HEARTS”.

                         THE END
